At the beginning of 2010, Unipati Concrete Sdn. Bhd. was chosen to lay the concrete foundations for Penang’s second bridge. Due to the scale of the project, with the length of the bridge measuring at 24,000 meters, there were logistical challenges in transporting concrete from the Concrete Batching Plant to the construction location. Unipati Concrete was one of the major concrete suppliers for precast concrete beams and slab, concrete structure, and foundation for the Penang Second Bridge project. 

Heat exposure from long travel distances can affect the temperature of soft concrete, which causes an increase in the temperature. This can affect the quality and integrity of the concrete causing it to harden during transportation. As a result, Amcon was appointed to set up a 0°C chilled water plant to provide chilled water for use in concrete batching both onshore and offshore

During the 3-year project, Amcon supplied the following products:

• Two units of 100hp Water-cooled Chillers
• Two units of 40hp Air-cooled Chillers
• One unit of 100hp Air-cooled Chiller
